CHICAGO (WLS) -- On Monday night, June 22, 2026, an armed robbery turned violent when a suspect shot a victim during the incident on Chicago’s Northwest Side. The shooting occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the 7000-block of West Belmont Avenue within the Montclare neighborhood.
According to police reports, a 28-year-old man approached and confronted a 24-year-old male outside an unspecified location. During this encounter, the suspect produced a firearm and demanded personal belongings from his victim before firing shots that struck the younger individual in the abdomen. The assailant fled with stolen items but was apprehended by law enforcement shortly after.
The injured victim was rushed to Loyola Hospital where he remains in critical condition due to abdominal wounds sustained during the shooting. No other individuals were reported harmed, and charges against the suspect are pending as Area Five detectives continue their investigation into this incident.
