A mother's quick thinking foiled an attempted kidnapping in the Fond du Lac County Village of Rosendale yesterday afternoon. According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, a 27-year-old woman and her 1-year-old son were walking on the Mascoutin Valley Trail just after 3:30 pm when they were approached by an unknown male.

The suspect allegedly put a white cloth over the woman's mouth and grabbed her by the neck. However, the woman was able to fight off the attacker and escape with her child to a nearby home, where she called 911 for help. Deputies and detectives were able to identify the suspect based on eyewitness reports and security camera data.

A 21-year-old man was arrested at around 10:45 pm last night in a village residence. He is being held on charges of attempted kidnapping, false imprisonment, and battery. The investigation is ongoing, but no further details have been released about the suspect or his motives.
