Towson, MD – Baltimore County police announced on June 23 that they have arrested Reginald Gray Jr., a 33-year-old man with a history of violent crimes, for the fatal shooting of Nasir Majied, a 22-year-old student at Towson University. The incident occurred near York Road Circle in Towson on June 5.
According to police reports, detectives believe that Gray shot and killed Majied during what appears to be an act of road rage. Surveillance footage from local businesses along York Road was instrumental in identifying the suspect's vehicle—a gray Nissan Altima with tinted windows and Virginia license plates (SXM-4392). The car is described as possibly having a unique neck tattoo on its driver.
Gray, who has been identified by police as an armed and dangerous individual, had not been seen at his last known address in East Baltimore for some time. Despite this, investigators were able to track him down after releasing information about the case to the public and offering a $2,000 reward for any leads that would lead to his arrest.
Gray's criminal history includes multiple offenses dating back to 2016, including domestic violence, drug possession, first-degree assault, gun charges, and an attempted second-degree murder conviction in 2018. He was sentenced to seven years in prison but appears to have been released before the shooting incident on June 5.
Community members expressed their frustration over Gray's actions and urged him to turn himself in if he knows his involvement is wrongful. "It hurts not just me as a parent, it hurts my community," said one resident who spoke with reporters near East Baltimore where Gray was last seen.
Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough emphasized the importance of public cooperation during such investigations: “Our detectives worked tirelessly to identify and locate this suspect within 48 hours. We are grateful for the support from the local businesses that provided surveillance footage, which helped us make an arrest.”
Anyone with additional information about Gray or his whereabouts is urged to contact Baltimore County Police at 410-887-3700 or Metro Crime Stoppers anonymously.
**Note:** Specific details regarding the exact nature of the road rage incident and whether there was a previous encounter between Majied and Gray remain under investigation.
