A shooting incident occurred on June 28, 2026, in Bexar County, Texas. Danh Dinh, 38, was shot by deputies after allegedly refusing to drop two mini samurai sword-type knives he was carrying.
According to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, a welfare check had been conducted at Dinh's home on June 27, but no emergency detention was deemed necessary. The next day, a neighbor called 911 after finding Dinh bleeding from his arm and trying to break into their home with two knives.
Deputies arrived within three minutes of the call and ordered Dinh to drop the weapons, but he refused. When Dinh made a move towards them, they fired, hitting him in the belly and backside. As of June 29, Dinh remained hospitalized.
The neighbor who called 911 said that the incident has left his family traumatized, with their young child experiencing anxiety due to the loud noises associated with the shooting. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
This marks a second high-profile incident in recent days involving law enforcement use of force in Texas.
