A domestic violence incident turned deadly on Thursday evening when a woman was shot and killed by her male partner. According to police, officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 2800 block of E. 6th St. around 6:15 p.m.

The victim, identified as Kelly Antwala (09/11/1980), was found suffering from apparent gunshot trauma and was transported to an area hospital by EMS. Despite life-saving medical intervention, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at approximately 7:50 p.m.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the argument between the male and female partners escalated into a physical disturbance before shots were fired. An adult male subject was taken into custody for further investigation without incident.

On Friday afternoon, charges of 2nd Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action were filed against William O'Neal by the Jackson County Prosecutor's office. The defendant is being held on a $300,000 cash-only bond set by a Jackson County judge.

The relationship between the male and female partners has not been disclosed at this time.
