Cumilla, June 29, 2026 - In a swift operation, police have recovered a foreign-made pistol and six rounds of bullets, and arrested four individuals, including the alleged gunman, in connection with the shooting of schoolboy Ethan Ahmed on Tuesday.
According to reports from the Kotwali Model Police Station, tensions between two local groups, "Apu Group" and "Sabbir Group," over an illegal drug trade dispute escalated into a gunfight on June 25. During this incident, 12-year-old Ethan Ahmed was struck by a bullet while passing through the area.
Within 12 hours of the shooting, police arrested Jamshed Hossain Shrabon, 22, who is believed to have been directly involved in the attack. Three more suspects were subsequently apprehended: Asif, 26; Ashik, 35; and Iman, 19. All four are residents of the Kotwali area.
The police operation was a joint effort between the Detective Branch (DB) and the local station, with Superintendent of Police (SP) of Cumilla stating that law enforcement will maintain a zero-tolerance stance against those involved in illegal activities.
