A string of incidents has shaken Bethel Township over the past few weeks. According to police reports, a 28-year-old Harrisburg man was charged with duties at a stop sign after failing to stop at a stop sign on Shirksville Road and colliding with a Honda HRV driven by a 52-year-old Newmanstown man.
In another incident, a 19-year-old Lebanon man was taken into custody for DUI after his Chevrolet Tahoe traveled across the street and struck a guide rail on South Pine Grove Street. No injuries were reported in this incident.
Additionally, police responded to several other incidents, including a hit-and-run crash on Willow Street where Michael Johnson, 59, was charged with hit-and-run, and a domestic disturbance call on Lehman Street where Antonio Howell, 29, was charged with simple assault (domestic violence-related).
The Lebanon City Police Department has also welcomed four new hires to the force: Shawn Simpson, Jahdiel Molina Rodriguez, Enrique Hidalgo, and Matthew Raub.
**Background**
According to police reports, these incidents are part of a larger trend of reckless driving and impaired operation in Bethel Township. The police department is urging drivers to exercise caution on the roads and to report any suspicious activity to authorities.
The Lebanon City Police Department has also been working with local organizations, such as the James Biever Police-Community Alliance, to provide training and resources for new officers.
**Other Incidents**
In unrelated incidents, a 49-year-old woman was charged with retail theft on Quentin Road in March, and a 32-year-old man was charged with DUI on Lehman Street in May.
