Two Arrested in Separate Vehicle Pursuits in Lyon County, Kentucky
Eddyville, KY - June 29, 2026 - Two individuals were taken into custody after separate vehicle pursuit incidents in Lyon County, Kentucky.
According to the Kentucky State Police (KSP), Trooper Dunigan attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Robert Amburgey, 59, of Eddyville, for making an illegal U-turn and speeding. However, Amburgey accelerated rapidly and initiated a pursuit, leading to a crash in the 1100 block of Pleasant Valley Road. He was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital before being charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance, no operator's license, and other traffic offenses.
In a separate incident on June 27, KSP troopers responded to a call about a two-vehicle injury crash on Interstate 24 westbound. The driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash, identified as Richard Rogers, 55, of Nashville, Tennessee, fled the scene and continued traveling eastbound on U.S. 62. A pursuit ensued, with Lyon County sheriff's deputies joining KSP troopers. Rogers attempted to turn around on private property but became stuck in a pond. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Rogers is facing multiple charges, including first-degree fleeing or evading police, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a substance, leaving the scene of an accident, and reckless driving. A preexisting warrant for driving under the influence was also served to Rogers.
