Local authorities have confirmed that no connection exists between an international fugitive and a recent escape incident in our area.

However, we do report on a separate development from abroad:

A high-profile arrest was made yesterday evening by Spanish police. Domenico Paviglianiti, also known as "Don Mico," is believed to be the Italian mafia boss of the 'Ndrangheta organization based in Calabria. He has been wanted under a European arrest warrant since 2022 and faces charges including violent crimes, drug trafficking, and money laundering.

According to reports from Madrid, Paviglianiti was arrested without incident in Soria, approximately 200 kilometers north-east of the Spanish capital. The arrest followed months of joint investigations between Spanish and Italian authorities.

The suspect is expected to be extradited to Italy soon to face a potential 19-year prison sentence.
