Cypress Hills (Local News) – A suspected drunk driver fled the scene of a collision involving a family van and a nearby Chase Bank building early Wednesday morning, leaving five people injured. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 AM on Fulton Street near Hemlock Street when a BMW SUV struck a Toyota minivan carrying five occupants.
According to witnesses, the crash could be heard from several blocks away as the driver of the SUV was reportedly swerving erratically before hitting the van with significant force. Police arrived shortly after and confirmed that three children in the rear seats sustained minor injuries and were transported to Long Island Jewish Medical Center for treatment. The remaining two adults inside the minivan also required medical attention but their conditions are not yet known.
Police identified the suspect as a 23-year-old male who appeared intoxicated at the scene. Sources indicate this may be his second DUI-related incident, though details on previous offenses have not been confirmed by authorities.
