A former Tennessee Titans scout, Blaise Taylor, has been accused of poisoning and killing his pregnant girlfriend, Jade Benning. According to prosecutors, Taylor spiked Benning's drink with a lethal amount of cocaine, resulting in her death from acute cocaine toxicity.

Benning was 28 years old at the time of her death and was six months pregnant. Taylor is charged with first-degree murder and was arrested in March 2024, about a year after Benning's death.

The prosecution rested its case on Saturday, presenting evidence that included testimony from key witnesses such as lead detective Adam Reese and Apple Dennie, one of three former girlfriends who testified against Taylor. Dennie stated that Taylor had previously impregnated her and another woman, Xavier Winford, but was not supportive when Benning became pregnant.

Benning's mother, Bridget Burke, also took the stand, describing how Taylor was unsupportive of his girlfriend's pregnancy and did not want to be involved in raising a child. The prosecution presented evidence that included toxicology reports showing high levels of cocaine in Benning's system.

The trial is expected to resume on Monday after court adjourned for the weekend.
