On Monday, June 22, 2026, Glastonbury police detailed a significant weapons incident that occurred on June 6th at a residence on Manchester Road. The arrest of 39-year-old Benjamin Richard resulted in the confiscation of multiple firearms and narcotics from his home.

The day began with a welfare check request concerning the behavior of an individual at the specified address. Upon arrival, officers were immediately confronted by Richard who was found to be near several weapons. Despite repeated verbal commands to surrender, Richard reached for what appeared to be his waistband, prompting one officer to deploy a Taser and subsequently subdue him.

During this encounter, police recovered a handgun from Richard before he was taken into custody and transported to an area hospital for evaluation due to the use of force during apprehension. A search warrant was then executed at the residence where officers seized numerous firearms including unserialized Polymer80-style handguns ("ghost guns"), a Remington 870 shotgun, loaded magazines, suspected methamphetamine, Alprazolam pills, and items related to firearm manufacturing.

Richard faces several charges: criminal possession of a pistol or revolver; illegal possession of large-capacity magazines; possession of narcotics with intent to sell; use of drug paraphernalia; and interference with an officer. He is prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior felony convictions and was presented in Manchester Superior Court on Monday, held on a $1 million bond.

This case remains under active investigation by Glastonbury Police Department as they continue their efforts to address public safety concerns within the community.
