In a major operation, Greek authorities seized over 436 grams of crystal methamphetamine and arrested eight individuals, including the alleged ringleader, as part of an investigation into suspected drug trafficking activity. The arrest was made by the Greek Coast Guard following a coordinated effort with other law enforcement agencies.

The operation targeted a suspected network involved in both drugs and weapons trafficking in Attica. According to authorities, the 44-year-old Iranian national arrested is believed to have been distributing and selling illegal substances. During a home search, officers found two packages containing the seized crystal methamphetamine, which was estimated to be worth approximately €6,540.

The investigation also uncovered additional items, including empty packages for dividing individual doses, a metal grinder with cannabis residue, USB storage devices, and a mobile phone. The Elefsina Port Authority is conducting the preliminary investigation and examining whether the suspect may have links to broader drug trafficking networks.

This incident follows recent efforts by Greek authorities to combat organized crime and narcotics trafficking in the region. In May, three individuals were arrested in Attica as part of a separate operation targeting a suspected drug trafficking ring.

The European Court of Human Rights has also been involved in related cases, with a landmark ruling against the Greek state over actions taken during the tenure of former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and other government officials. However, this incident is unrelated to those proceedings.
