ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) - A man was found dead from a gunshot wound inside his home on Saturday afternoon, leading investigators to arrest 54-year-old Tanya Belzer for murder.

According to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, emergency services received an urgent call at approximately 2:20 p.m., reporting that a deceased individual had been discovered in a residence located along Shoal Creek Road near Ashville. Upon arrival, authorities confirmed that 68-year-old Eddie D. Lee was found dead from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

As the investigation progressed, law enforcement identified Tanya Belzer as a suspect and proceeded with further inquiries. She was subsequently apprehended in Lincoln by St. Clair County investigators who then transported her back for questioning. Based on their findings, Belzer has been charged with murder related to Lee’s death.

Belzer is currently being held at the St. Clair County Jail under a $1,500,000 bond as the case remains open and ongoing. Additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident have not yet been released by authorities.
