HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) — A shooting incident that occurred late Friday night off Sparkman Drive in Huntsville has resulted in the arrest of a 56-year-old man named Don Stout on murder charges. According to local law enforcement, officers responded to reports of shots fired and found Stout at the scene shortly after 9 p.m., where he was subsequently placed under arrest.

Exclusive footage from a neighbor shows Stout being taken into custody by police in handcuffs minutes following the shooting incident. The video captures dozens of Huntsville Police Department officers arriving on the scene immediately afterward, indicating an urgent response to handle the situation.

Neighbors described the area as typically calm but were shocked and saddened by Friday night’s events. One resident reported that before shots were fired, Stout was involved in a verbal altercation with other men over his truck, which he frequently drives around the neighborhood. The neighbor stated that if someone had been attempting to steal Stout's pickup truck, they would not blame him for defending it.

"It shattered what is normally a quiet street," said another resident who witnessed the incident from their home. "We never heard Don angry before and described him as a great guy and a quiet family man."

First responders administered emergency medical care on-site, including a blood transfusion to an unidentified victim who was then transported away by ambulance. The condition of the person shot remains unknown at this time.

Huntsville police have yet to release further details regarding the shooter’s identity or provide updates about the status and identification of the shooting victim. As the investigation continues, law enforcement urges anyone with information relevant to the case to come forward.
