KERSHAW, S.C., June 21 (Queen City News) — A significant blow was dealt against local drug trafficking operations today after law enforcement arrested five individuals following a months-long investigation. The Lancaster County Multijurisdictional Narcotics Task Force spearheaded the operation that led to the arrests of Cedric Mandrell Wright, Staci Elizabeth Mangum, Joshua Arron Ray, Derrick Seegars, and Christopher Dean Welch.
The raid on June 11 at an address on Three Cs Road yielded substantial evidence: investigators seized 10.75 grams of suspected fentanyl, 51.04 grams of methamphetamine, 25.28 grams of cocaine, and 3.40 grams of marijuana along with digital scales used for drug distribution. Additionally, two semiautomatic pistols were confiscated, alongside $3,905 in cash.
Sheriff Barry Faile emphasized the ongoing nature of this issue: "This spot down on Three Cs Road has been a problem for quite a while." The task force's meticulous work culminated in successful arrests and seizures that have temporarily halted drug activity at the location. All five individuals remain incarcerated without bond pending further legal proceedings.
Wright faces multiple charges including distribution and trafficking of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, possession with intent to distribute near schools or parks, as well as firearm-related offenses due to prior convictions. Mangum is charged with trafficking cocaine and related drug possession counts; Ray and Seegars are similarly accused in connection with cocaine trafficking. Welch's additional charges include marijuana distribution.
The community has welcomed the arrests, hoping for a lasting reduction in local crime rates associated with these individuals' activities. Sheriff Faile encouraged continued public vigilance: "Anyone with information about this or any other case should call our office at 803-283-3388 and select Option 4."
This operation underscores the collaborative efforts between various law enforcement agencies in combating drug trafficking within Kershaw County, aiming to enhance community safety.
