Jamarion Dawon Jackson, a 23-year-old man from Virginia, has been sentenced to four years in federal prison for possessing a machine gun during a police chase and carjacking incident on I-95 last year. According to court documents, Jackson was driving at over 100 mph when he crashed his sedan into several vehicles and then attempted to flee on foot.
The incident occurred on April 17, 2025, when Virginia State Police trooper was patrolling the area near the Pohick Road overpass. The trooper pursued Jackson after he failed to respond to a signal to pull over. During the chase, Jackson crashed into several vehicles and then tried to enter two other cars before being struck by one of their drivers.
When police searched Jackson's car, they found a Glock semi-automatic pistol with a machinegun conversion device and 31-round magazine on the driver's side floorboard. Tracing by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives determined that the gun was manufactured in Austria and sold in Texas.
Jackson initially faced charges for carjacking, eluding police, carrying a loaded firearm in public, and possession of an "auto sear" in Fairfax County General District Court. However, those charges were dropped so the case could be moved to federal court. Jackson pleaded guilty in April to possessing a machine gun and was sentenced on Tuesday.
This is not Jackson's first run-in with the law. He was previously arrested for shooting another man at Potomac Mills mall in 2021 and served time for carrying a concealed weapon, destroying property worth over $1,000, and unlawfully discharging a firearm in an occupied building.
