Midland, MI - Jason Kolka, 23, was sentenced to one year in the Midland County Jail on June 25 for two counts of misdemeanor domestic violence. According to court records, Kolka pleaded guilty to these charges on March 6.
The incident occurred on January 5 in Jasper Township, where deputies responded to a 911 call regarding a domestic assault. The cause of the argument is unknown. Kolka allegedly attacked his live-in partner and her husband with a knife, slapping one woman and holding the knife on another man. He also pushed his mother.
The original charges included felony assault, an additional domestic violence count, and malicious destruction of property under $1,000. However, these three charges were dismissed as part of Kolka's plea agreement.
Judge Michael Beale sentenced Kolka to 172 days' credit for time served since his arrest on January 5. As part of the sentence, Judge Beale ordered that there be no contact between Kolka and the victims.
The 64-year-old man allegedly threatened by Kolka has since passed away due to unrelated causes.
