**New Zealand Man Sentenced to 13.5 Years for Child Sex Crimes**
A Christchurch man has been sentenced to 13 years and six months in prison for multiple child sex crimes, including creating and distributing thousands of images and videos of child sexual abuse material.
Glen Elwyn Connor, 34, pleaded guilty to 43 charges related to the production and distribution of child exploitation content. The investigation began after an overseas law enforcement agency alerted New Zealand authorities to a cloud storage account hosted in the country that was sharing illicit material.
The case involved a joint investigation by the Department of Internal Affairs' Digital Child Exploitation Team and New Zealand Police, who executed two search warrants at Connor's home in 2024. Forensic analysis revealed offending spanning almost a decade, including serious sexual offenses against young people.
Connor will serve a minimum non-parole period of 50% of his sentence and be placed on the Child Sex Offender Register. The devices used in his offending will also be destroyed.
The Department of Internal Affairs has carried out numerous investigations into online child exploitation, with 52 search warrants executed in 2025 alone.
