A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier this month outside several bars on Bardstown Road. DaJohn Roberts, 29, was taken into custody by Louisville Metro Police's Non-Fatal Shooting Unit on Friday.
According to police, the shooting happened on June 21st in the 1100 block of Bardstown Road, near Atomic and The Hub. Witnesses told officers that Roberts first tried to shoot a victim in the head with a gun that did not fire, then chased him as he ran away.
Roberts is charged with attempted murder, wanton endangerment, and tampering with physical evidence. He was arraigned on Saturday morning and given a $200,000 bond. He is currently being held at the Louisville Metro Detention Center.
The shooting occurred during a chaotic weekend along the Bardstown Road corridor, where multiple fights escalated into gunfire. Police made two dozen arrests, issued 40 citations, and towed two vehicles throughout that weekend. Another shooting also took place that weekend, but Roberts is only tied to this one incident.
In response to the violence, Louisville Metro ABC suspended Atomic's liquor license, citing the shooting and previous enforcement actions. City leaders have vowed to crack down on late-night violence in the area. The investigation into the shooting remains active and ongoing.
