On Sunday, June 14th, the Lytle Police Department (L.P.D.) reported four property crimes and three arrests in their weekly update. The most notable incidents involved significant losses of construction equipment and a theft from a school site.

The L.P.D. received reports of stolen copper wire valued at $3,100 from the Lytle I.S.D. Primary School construction site. A suspect has been identified but no warrant has yet been issued. In another incident, an employee reported missing approximately $1,200 in cash from her purse at Hacienda Jaliscience restaurant.

A major equipment rental company suffered a significant loss when two skid steers and a backhoe were stolen after being delivered to what was believed to be a regular customer but turned out to be an imposter. The thieves managed to move the backhoe, while hiding the skid steers in nearby woods. Despite this setback, L.P.D. successfully recovered all missing equipment with assistance from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Additionally, there were three arrests made by Lytle police officers last week: 1. A 17-year-old male was cited and released for possession of drug paraphernalia. 2. A 26-year-old man turned himself in after a warrant was issued for tampering with vehicle identification numbers; he is now booked into the Atascosa County Jail. 3. Another 26-year-old individual fled from an assault report but was apprehended by police using their drone technology, leading to his arrest on felony domestic violence charges.

These incidents highlight ongoing challenges faced by local law enforcement in maintaining public safety and property security within Lytle’s jurisdiction.
