Prince George's County Police Department's Fugitive Unit arrested Dayon Neal, 28, on Monday in Charles County, Maryland, in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred over two years ago. According to police, Neal is charged with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, and gun-related charges.

The incident took place on May 24, 2024, at approximately 4:50 a.m. in the parking garage of MGM National Harbor Hotel and Casino. Police responded to reports of a shooting and found 37-year-old Daniel Antonio Thomas, from Washington D.C., suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation revealed that the suspect and victim did not know each other prior to the shooting, and the motive remains under investigation.

Neal made an initial appearance in Prince George's County District Court on Tuesday and is being held in jail. His next hearing is scheduled for July 22. Neal is currently awaiting extradition from Charles County to Prince George's County.
