A 38-year-old man has been taken into custody following a disturbance at his home on South Douglas Street in Ripon. According to police, Jared Thurber was arrested on multiple charges related to an alleged assault and false imprisonment incident.
Police received a call at 10:35 a.m. on June 19 from someone claiming to be the victim of a physical assault. The caller reported having several serious injuries and stated that they had been held against their will by Thurber, who was armed with a knife. The victim managed to escape and flag down a passerby for medical treatment.
Thurber has an active warrant through probation and parole and has previous convictions for battery-intended bodily harm, resisting or obstructing, and disorderly conduct. Police set up a perimeter around his home and requested assistance from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office.
After several hours of negotiation, SWAT teams from both departments used specialized technology to get Thurber to exit the house and be taken into custody. He was arrested and transported to the Fond du Lac County Jail.
Thurber faces multiple charges related to strangulation, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, disorderly conduct, resisting an officer, mistreating animals, and felony intimidation of a victim. The investigation is ongoing.
