A 27-year-old man from Jonesboro has been charged with rape after police found probable cause to support the allegations. Roshawn Britt is being held on a $1 million bond at the Craighead County Detention Center, awaiting his next court appearance.
According to authorities, the case began when Jonesboro police were called to a local hospital on June 18 regarding the sexual assault of a juvenile. A daycare worker reported that the child had made allegations against Britt. After reviewing the case, Second Judicial Circuit Court Judge Scott Ellington signed a warrant for Britt's arrest.
The details of the alleged crime and the age and gender of the victim are not being disclosed to protect their identity and due to the graphic nature of the allegations. The court has ordered Britt to have no contact with the victim and to wear a GPS ankle monitor as part of his bond conditions.
Britt is scheduled to appear in circuit court on July 30. This incident remains under investigation by local authorities.
