DETROIT – Denzielle Burt was arraigned in the 36th District Court today, facing new charges related to sexual assault against his ex-girlfriend’s young daughters. The case has drawn significant attention due to its connection to previous sex crimes allegations that led to Burt's initial arrest and bond release last year.
In June 2025, Burt was charged with sex crimes involving a child under the age of 13. He posted $25,000 in bail shortly after his initial charges were filed. However, just one month later, while out on bond, he is now accused of sexually assaulting two young girls aged eight and nine over a period of six months.
During today’s arraignment hearing before Magistrate Delphia Burton, Burt was remanded to jail without the possibility of bail due to the severity of these new allegations. The magistrate noted that based on the nature of the charges and pending cases, there is substantial evidence suggesting he poses both an immediate danger to his victims and a broader threat to community safety.
Both girls reported similar accounts during forensic interviews conducted by child welfare investigators. Their stories corroborate each other in detail, which has strengthened the case against Burt. Despite these serious allegations, Burt maintains a plea of not guilty at this stage.
The Detroit Police Department is currently investigating further details and connections between recent incidents and previous charges. Additional information about Denzielle Burt’s background remains limited; he reportedly works as a line cook in Detroit and has children of his own.
This case highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement and judicial systems in managing high-risk individuals who pose threats to minors, particularly when such individuals are out on bond awaiting trial for similar offenses.
