Glen Elwyn Connor, 34, has been sentenced to 13 years and six months in prison for a decade-long series of sex crimes against children. The Christchurch District Court heard that Connor had accessed objectionable material, including child sexual exploitation images, and shared them online.

According to the Crown summary of facts, three boys aged between 11 and 15 were victims of Connor's offending between 2022 and 2024. He was found to have created videos and photos of one victim, who he then blackmailed into sending more explicit images. Connor also sexually abused two other boys on multiple occasions.

The Department of Internal Affairs had raided Connor's flat twice after discovering that child sexual exploitation material was being uploaded from his devices. A total of 23,500 objectionable photo and video files were found on multiple devices between January 2015 and December 2024.

Connor had previously been convicted in 2012 for possessing objectionable material depicting child sexual exploitation. The court heard that he continued to offend despite facing previous consequences, showing deliberate and predatory behavior.

Judge Raoul Neave described the offending as "widespread and callous" and sentenced Connor to a minimum of 6 years and 9 months imprisonment before being eligible for parole. He was also placed on the child sex offender register.

**Background**

This case highlights the ongoing issue of child sexual exploitation in New Zealand. The Department of Internal Affairs has been working with partners both domestically and internationally to identify predators and hold them accountable for their crimes against innocent children.

Connor's behavior is a stark reminder that these types of offenders can continue to offend despite facing previous consequences, posing significant risk to communities.
