A man has been killed in a stabbing incident in Cold Spring, Minnesota. According to the Cold Spring/Richmond Police Department, officers were called to the 400 block of Eighth Avenue North on Saturday evening at around 8:30 p.m. upon receiving a report of an assault.

The victim was found suffering from an apparent stab wound and despite attempts by law enforcement and medical personnel to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. A suspect has been taken into custody and is being held at the Stearns County Jail pending formal charges.

There is no ongoing threat to the public, according to police. The identity of the victim will be released after formal identification by the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office and notification of next of kin.

The incident remains under investigation by the Cold Spring/Richmond Police Department, with assistance from other local law enforcement agencies including the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), Avon Police Dept, Cold Spring Fire Dept Rescue, and Mayo Ambulance.
