MELISSA, Texas — A Melissa police officer is currently on administrative leave following the fatal shooting of an armed man during a disturbance call late Sunday night. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. when officers responded to reports at a home located in the 2600 block of E. Melissa Road.
According to the Melissa Police Department, upon arrival, police encountered "an armed individual and another occupant" inside the residence. During this encounter, an officer discharged his firearm, resulting in injuries to the armed man. The injured suspect was provided with immediate medical attention before being transported to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his wounds.
No other individuals were reportedly harmed during the incident. However, due to ongoing investigations by both the Melissa Police Department and the Texas Rangers, no additional details have been released regarding the circumstances leading up to the disturbance or the identity of those involved.
