MINNEAPOLIS (June 21, 2026) — Early Sunday morning, a shooting incident in south Minneapolis resulted in the death of one man and injuries to another. The Minneapolis Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 1:20 a.m. near Lyndale Avenue South.
Upon arrival, officers found an adult male with life-threatening gunshot wounds who was immediately transported to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC). Despite medical efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries and died shortly after arriving at the hospital. Later in the morning, police confirmed that a second individual had also been shot but sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received treatment at North Memorial Medical Center.
According to preliminary findings from investigators, the shooting occurred in a parking lot where one group of individuals was reportedly targeted by another unknown group who began firing shots. The exact circumstances leading up to the incident remain unclear as police continue their investigation without any suspects identified or arrests made thus far.
