New Florence, MO – On Friday, Montgomery County deputies responded to multiple reports of a driver behaving erratically and driving carelessly along Interstate 70 near the Jonesburg exit. Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle had swerved off the road and struck the median barrier before continuing its journey and exiting at New Florence.
Upon stopping Jordyn Angel for investigation, law enforcement noted her visibly shaking hands and signs of opioid influence. A probation check revealed that she was previously convicted for possessing fentanyl. During a search, officers discovered a baggie containing capsules in Angel’s waistband and another capsule in her purse. The total weight of the seized substances amounted to approximately 1.7 grams.
Angel admitted to being in possession of fentanyl during questioning by law enforcement officials. As a result, she was charged with second-degree drug trafficking, driving while intoxicated (DWI), unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner on Monday.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by local authorities in combating drug-related offenses within their jurisdiction. The arrest underscores the risks posed to public safety when individuals under probation for similar charges continue to engage in illegal activities involving controlled substances.
