MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Montgomery police have confirmed that a missing persons case has escalated into the city's 24th homicide in 2026. The victim is identified as Tyrent Williams, aged 28 from Montgomery.

Williams was reported missing recently and his body was discovered by first responders around 12:35 p.m. Sunday at Ann Street near Percy Julian High School after reports of a person down in the area. Upon arrival, emergency services pronounced him deceased due to multiple gunshot wounds.

"At this time, we have no information regarding either a motive or any suspects involved," said an MPD spokesperson during a press conference on Monday. "We are urging anyone with relevant details about Tyrent Williams' disappearance and death to come forward."

The Montgomery Police Department has established a hotline at 334-625-2651, while CrimeStoppers is also offering anonymity for tipsters who contact them through their number: 334-215-STOP (7867).

No further details have been released by the police as of now regarding the circumstances leading up to Williams' death.
