A 26-year-old Neenah man was arrested Monday morning for a warrant out of Lake County, Indiana. Willie Wallace was taken into custody by officers from the Menasha and Neenah police departments after his vehicle was spotted leaving his residence.
According to officials, an officer saw Wallace's vehicle leaving his house on Doty Island around 8am and followed him to the McDonalds in Menasha, where a high-risk traffic stop was conducted. Eight squad cars were involved in the arrest, which was aided by Flock cameras that alerted officers when the suspect passed by.
Wallace has been booked into Winnebago County Jail on charges of homicide and attempted armed robbery. He is awaiting extradition to Indiana, where he will face trial for the alleged crimes.
The incident highlights the cooperation between local law enforcement agencies in apprehending suspects with outstanding warrants. Neenah Police Officer Joe Benoit stated that the use of Flock cameras was a valuable tool in this case, although it was not necessary in this particular situation.
Wallace's residence is located just a few blocks away from the Neenah-Menasha border, and officials said the involvement of both departments was natural due to their proximity. The Lake County Sheriff's Office will confirm the arrest and begin the extradition process to Indiana.
