On June 23, 2026, Mohammad Salim Dola, a notorious drug trafficker with ties to Dawood Ibrahim's gang, was extradited from Turkey to India. According to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Dola was taken into custody upon his arrival at IGI Airport in New Delhi.
Dola is wanted for prosecution in multiple narcotics trafficking cases in India and has been absconding from Indian law enforcement agencies for years. He had established a significant transnational drug trafficking syndicate spanning several countries, including the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
The extradition was made possible through Operation Global-Hunt, a joint effort between the NCB, international intelligence agencies, and Turkish authorities. This operation highlights the close cooperation and coordinated action between law enforcement agencies across borders in their efforts to combat transnational crime.
Dola's two-decade-long criminal history includes involvement in cases involving high-value seizures of various narcotics substances, including heroin, charas, mephedrone, and methamphetamine, primarily in Maharashtra and Gujarat. He is also wanted by ATS Gujarat and the Mumbai Police.
The extradition marks a significant breakthrough for Indian authorities in their mission to bring organized crime syndicates and narcotics fugitives to justice.
