A 58-year-old Sellersville man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after allegedly threatening to kill store employees and police officers, assaulting an officer by spitting on him, and vandalizing a holding cell following his arrest earlier this month.

According to court documents, Howard Joel Boland was charged with various crimes including felony assault of a law enforcement officer, terroristic threats, institutional vandalism, indecent exposure, harassment, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct, and retail theft. The charges stem from an incident on June 15, 2026, at Village Market in Sellersville.

Police were called to the store around 12:19 p.m. for a report of a disorderly intoxicated man harassing customers. A store employee recorded video of Boland making threatening remarks outside the business. Officers later identified him as the suspect and took him into custody after he allegedly threatened to kill an investigating sergeant and lunged aggressively at another officer.

During his arrest, police allege that Boland admitted to stealing socks from a nearby pharmacy without paying. After being transported to Perkasie Police headquarters, investigators claim that Boland spit on the investigating officer while in a holding cell, threw toilet water around the cell, urinated inside and outside the cell, and exposed himself.

The incident has raised concerns about public safety and law enforcement procedures. The charges against Boland are serious and carry significant penalties if convicted.
