RYLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (WKRC) - A tense standoff unfolded on Tuesday afternoon when a domestic violence incident escalated into a confrontation involving firearms and led to the deployment of SWAT teams in Ryland Heights, Kenton County.

According to police reports, officers from the Kenton County Police Department were called to a residence around 2:56 p.m. for a reported case of domestic abuse. Upon arrival at the scene, they encountered Delbert Hornsby, aged 62, who was identified as the suspect involved in the initial incident.

The situation rapidly deteriorated when Hornsby allegedly pulled out and pointed a firearm at one of the responding officers, prompting an immediate retreat by law enforcement to ensure safety. The wife inside the home managed to escape unharmed with police assistance, while authorities established a perimeter around the property.

After several hours of negotiation attempts, Hornsby eventually surrendered peacefully without any further incidents or injuries reported on either side. He was taken into custody and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, and fourth-degree assault related to domestic violence.
