A 19-year-old has been arrested and charged with arson and criminal mischief after two cars were set on fire in Washington Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey.

According to police, the investigation began at around 9:42 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, when officers responded to a report of a car that was intentionally set on fire on Tara Drive. A surveillance camera captured footage of the suspect smashing the rear window of the car with a hatchet and then lighting a fire inside.

As police investigated the first incident, a second car fire was reported in the area of Harrogate Court and Tenby Drive. After searching the area, officers arrested Aiden Logrande, 19, of Washington Township, who matched the description of the suspect.

Logrande faces charges for the two car fires and is believed to be linked to other broken windshield incidents in the area. Anyone with information or surveillance video relevant to the investigation is urged to contact Detective Joseph Russo at 856-589-0330, ext. 1194.
