Kabul, Afghanistan - June 23, 2026 - In a series of counter-narcotics operations conducted by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) in Kabul, three individuals have been arrested on charges of drug trafficking and narcotics sales. The operations took place in the 11th security district of Kabul city and Bagrami district.

According to an MoI statement posted on its X account, intelligence-based operations led to the seizure of a large quantity of illicit substances, including:

  • 1,382 capsules
  • A quantity of "tablet K"
  • More than three kilograms of hashish
  • An amount of heroin

Additionally, security forces destroyed a factory used for producing alcoholic beverages and confiscated 24 litres of alcoholic drinks.

The arrested individuals are currently under investigation and will be referred to judicial and legal institutions after completion of preliminary inquiries. The MoI has not released further details on the identities or backgrounds of those arrested.

Background: Afghanistan continues to grapple with a significant narcotics problem, with opium poppy cultivation and heroin production remaining major concerns for law enforcement agencies.
