PATTISON, Miss. — Three individuals have been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Dawaynemonion Hedrick on June 18th near Pattison, according to the Claiborne County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to a report of a shooting around 5:48 p.m. that day at an intersection close to Hinds Street and Tillman Road in Pattison. Upon arrival, they discovered Dawaynemonion Hedrick suffering from gunshot wounds near Bikini Lounge. Despite the immediate medical assistance provided by emergency personnel, Hedrick succumbed to his injuries.

The Claiborne County Sheriff's Office collaborated with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation due to the severity and complexity of the case. This joint effort rapidly led to the identification and arrest of multiple suspects involved in the incident.

Two individuals—17-year-old Camelo Hedrick and Rakem J. Townsend—are charged with murder. A third suspect, Vernard Townsend, faces charges including accessory to murder after the fact, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and violating Mississippi's law prohibiting machine gun conversion devices.

Sheriff Edward L. Goods Sr., who leads the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office, expressed gratitude towards all involved in the investigation for their swift action and dedication. He also extended condolences to Dawaynemonion Hedrick's family and friends, urging the community to support them during this difficult time.

The ongoing nature of the case suggests that further developments may lead to additional charges being filed as more evidence is reviewed by investigators.
