Three individuals were arrested on Friday after a traffic stop by the Nash County Sheriff's Office resulted in the seizure of over 1,000 grams of drugs.
According to the Nash County Sheriff's Office, Johnathan Gonzalez was driving a vehicle on NC-97 when he attempted to flee from deputies during a traffic stop for improper exhaust and darkened window tint. A search of the vehicle revealed more than 100 grams of methamphetamine, 907 grams of marijuana, and three boxes of THC extracts and vapes.
Gonzalez, along with passengers Santos Marquez and Nataly Cordero, were arrested at the scene. Additionally, a 9mm handgun was found in Marquez's waistband. All three individuals are being held at the Nash County Detention Center.
The charges against Gonzalez include two counts of trafficking methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, and other related offenses. Cordero faces similar charges, while Marquez is also charged with carrying a concealed gun.
Background: This incident marks one of several recent drug-related arrests in Nash County. The seized drugs are estimated to be worth tens of thousands of dollars on the black market.
