ELKO, NV - Three people were arrested on suspicion of trafficking drugs in the Elko area after a several-month-long investigation by the Elko Police Department's Crime Suppression Unit. The investigation, which began in October 2025, revealed a network of traffickers supplying narcotics from multiple cities across Nevada and California into Elko.

According to authorities, the investigation involved hours of surveillance and interviews, as well as the execution of several search warrants targeting key members of the trafficking network. As a result of the investigation, approximately two pounds of powdered fentanyl and 3.3 pounds of methamphetamine were seized. The fentanyl seizure alone carries an estimated street value of $272,000.

The fentanyl seized is enough to deliver more than 450,000 potentially lethal doses. Fentanyl is approximately 100 times more potent than morphine, and as little as two milligrams can be fatal to the average adult.

In addition to the narcotics, investigators seized four firearms during the course of the investigation, including one AR-15-style rifle, one AK-47-style rifle, and two handguns. Several of the recovered firearms were reported as stolen.

The names of the suspects have not been released by authorities at this time. The Elko Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding narcotics activity in the Elko area to contact them at 775-777-7310.
