BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC — On June 18, 2026, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office successfully concluded a brief but intensive investigation into methamphetamine trafficking. The operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of over 107 grams (3.8 ounces) of methamphetamine.
The arrests were made possible through coordinated efforts by multiple units within the sheriff's office, including the Vice and Narcotics Unit, Special Operations Unit, and K-9 teams. During a traffic stop on Maco Road, investigators discovered the illicit drugs hidden in Sasser’s vehicle. This led to the arrest of Billy Jack Sasser, 46, who was charged with two counts of trafficking methamphetamine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver methamphetamine, as well as assault on a law enforcement agency animal.
Additionally, Grant W. Oehlert, 42, and Brittany Taylor Mikulec, 35, were arrested for conspiracy to traffic the drug. Both individuals are from Supply and Southport respectively.
Sheriff Brian Chism commended his officers’ diligence in addressing illegal drug activity within Brunswick County. The successful operation underscores ongoing efforts by local law enforcement agencies to combat methamphetamine trafficking and related crimes.
