Del Rio, TX - Three women have been charged with murder after a 32-year-old mother of five died following a stabbing in the border city of Del Rio on June 25.
According to authorities, Caroline Pena was stabbed multiple times and transported to Val Verde Regional Medical Center for treatment. She later succumbed to her injuries at a specialized medical facility in San Antonio.
The suspects, Kitty Mia Diaz (21), Amaya Cookie Diaz (19), and Kyandra Renee Faz (21), were arrested on Thursday afternoon after investigators reviewed local surveillance footage and processed physical evidence from the scene.
Bystander video captured the moment of their arrest, with both Kitty and Amaya Diaz being taken into custody without incident. Faz was apprehended shortly thereafter.
The charges against the three women have been upgraded to murder following Pena's death on Thursday evening at approximately 9 p.m.
