A violent offender with a history of gun crimes has been sentenced to over 14 years in federal prison for his role in an armed carjacking and other gun-related offenses. Cameron Davon Durand, 32, was sentenced to 170 months in federal prison on June 22, 2026.
According to court documents, Durand committed a series of new gun crimes during the summer of 2025 while serving a term of federal supervised release for a previous conviction. On July 18, 2025, he brandished a firearm and carjacked an Uber driver in St. Paul, chasing him on foot and firing a round at him as he ran.
Durand's criminal history dates back to 2007 and includes numerous felony convictions involving firearms, assaults, robbery, and gang-related violence. He was previously sentenced to 90 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm in 2019.
The sentence imposed by the court included 50 months for the felon-in-possession conviction and a consecutive mandatory minimum sentence of 120 months for discharging a firearm during the carjacking, totaling 170 months. The court also imposed 30 months of imprisonment to run concurrent with the 170-month term for Durand's supervised-release violations.
The case was investigated by the ATF, Saint Paul Police Department, and Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.
