Production note: Registry Recognizer generated the initial booking summary from the Russell County public jail roster. The Registry Recognizer Editorial Desk manually corrected and checked the booking time, facility, age, charge descriptions, statute citations, arresting-agency field, bond types, bond amounts, missing dockets and missing dispositions against the live roster on Aug. 1, 2026. The desk independently checked the arrest-process details against the linked WSFA report and stored its exact response in verified reference evidence. Alleged-victim identifying details from the source were deliberately omitted. A targeted Russell County court-document search returned no matching document, and non-browser public searches found no additional coverage. Booking photograph from the cited jail record. A booking photograph does not establish guilt.
Anthony Virgell Jackson, 33 at the time, was booked into the Prentiss L. Griffith Detention Facility at 9:48 p.m. on April 7, 2022, according to the Russell County Sheriff’s Office inmate roster. The record lists capital murder as the most serious charge.
The roster describes the capital-murder entry as “Homicide-Capital Murder-Non-Family Gun” and cites 13A-6-2. It carries the source bond code “NOBD” and no positive bond amount. Four additional entries allege promoting prison contraband involving a weapon, firearm possession by a person described as an ex-felon, escape, and promoting other prison contraband.
The weapon-contraband entry shows a $10,000 bond amount. The firearm-possession and escape entries each show $5,000. The other contraband entry carries the source code “OR” and no positive bond amount. The roster lists “JAIL” in the arresting-agency field and does not publish a docket number or disposition for any of the five entries.
In independent reporting published April 8, 2022, WSFA said Jackson had arrived at the Russell County Jail the previous day to speak with authorities about a 2019 Phenix City homicide investigation. The report said officers removed a weapon he was carrying and that he made an unsuccessful attempt to escape during questioning. WSFA reported that the Phenix City Police Department arrested Jackson with assistance from the Russell County Sheriff’s Office and that he was being held without bond on the capital-murder charge.
A targeted search of the configured Russell County court-document source did not return a matching case document. That result is not a disposition and does not establish the outcome of the allegations. Jail and arrest records describe accusations; they are not findings of guilt. Jackson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
