Corrections, Updates, and Appeals

How to report an error or changed public record and what Registry Recognizer does with the request.

Submit a correction

Email registryrecognizer@gmail.com or use the legal and data-access form.

Include enough information to verify the request

  • The exact article or record URL.
  • The statement, date, identity, disposition, or source link at issue.
  • The requested correction.
  • An authoritative supporting source, such as an agency update, court docket, dismissal, sealing or expungement order, or corrected public record.

Review and outcome

The editorial desk compares the request with the cited page, available source material, and any authoritative update. Depending on the evidence, Registry Recognizer may correct a field or statement, add context, change the content classification, update source links, or withdraw the page.

No response-time guarantee is made. Complex identity, court-record, sealing, and legal requests may require additional verification.

Visible correction history

When practical, a material correction receives a visible note explaining what changed. Some legacy pages may instead be updated or withdrawn while correction-note support is expanded. Minor spelling, formatting, and broken-link repairs may be made without a separate note.

Public records and appeals

The originating agency or court remains authoritative. If that source changes, send the updated record. If you disagree with an outcome, reply with additional authoritative evidence and ask for editorial reconsideration.
