BREWTON, Ala. — An Escambia County district judge set a $350,000 bond for Christiana Bell after a pretrial detention hearing in a case arising from a July 1 shooting report, according to the county jail roster and local court reporting.

The Escambia County Sheriff's Office booking profile identifies Bell as 18 and records her booking at 9:14 p.m. by the Brewton Police Department. The roster lists attempted murder, third-degree escape and a charge under Alabama Code Section 13A-11-61(b).

Brewton police were called to Lovelace Avenue for a delayed shooting report, WKRG reported. A man then drove to the police station in a vehicle marked by bullet holes. Officers later located Bell on East Jackson Street, detained her and took her to the police department for an interview.

Local reports say Bell was arrested after the interview and ran from a transporting officer while handcuffed before entering the county detention center. Brewton officers and Escambia County sheriff's deputies searched the area and found her near the courthouse. The jail roster includes third-degree escape among the resulting allegations.

At the detention hearing, a Brewton officer testified that Bell fired at the vehicle after an earlier dispute, according to the Tri-City Ledger. The newspaper reported that Bell said the driver had struck her, and her attorney argued that she acted in self-defense. Judge Eric Coale denied a request to dismiss the attempted-murder and firearm charges, then set the $350,000 bond. If released, Bell was ordered not to possess weapons or contact the man, the newspaper reported.

The charges are allegations. Bell is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
