LANCASTER, S.C. — The Lancaster County Detention Center's public roster lists two charges against Andreana Barnes Bufford following a July 15 booking.

Bufford, 54, was booked at 7:26 a.m. The roster identifies the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office as the booking origin and lists possession of a weapon during a violent crime and domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.

South Carolina Code Section 16-25-65 classifies domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature as a felony. The statute applies when domestic violence is alleged under defined aggravating circumstances, including great bodily injury or conduct that would reasonably cause fear of imminent great bodily injury or death. Those are statutory requirements, not findings about Bufford's case.

Section 16-23-490 addresses possession or display of a firearm or knife during the commission or attempted commission of a violent crime. Its additional punishment depends on indictment and conviction of the separate weapon count and conviction of the underlying violent crime.

The booking record reflects allegations at the start of a criminal proceeding. Bufford is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
