? ARREST MADE IN SHOOTING INCIDENT On October 17, 2026, deputies with the Jones County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence on Kingsview Circle following a report of a person who had been shot. Upon arrival, deputies located the victim, who was bleeding profusely from his arm. Our deputies immediately took action, applying a tourniquet in an effort to control the bleeding until EMS arrived. The victim was transported to the hospital, where he was treated for his injury and later released. Through the course of the investigation, deputies determined that during a birthday party, a physical altercation occurred involving two males. As the fight escalated, one of the males drew a weapon and fired. The victim was shot when he attempted to intervene between the two individuals. Further investigation identified the shooter as Elijah Alexander, 17, of Milledgeville. A warrant was obtained for his arrest on the charge of Aggravated Assault. Alexander turned himself in earlier today and remains in custody at this time. We commend our deputies for their quick response, immediate medical intervention, and investigative work that led to the identification of the suspect and the securing of an arrest warrant. Their actions at the scene helped provide critical care to the victim while ensuring the investigation moved forward.
