On 09-15-2026 and 09-16-2026 Wagoner County investigators conducted a multi-day operation in partnership with SOSA - Safe from Online Sex Abuse, a nonprofit organization that works alongside law enforcement to identify and investigate individuals suspected of online child sexual abuse and exploitation. Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office Investigators were made aware of a male suspect that had contacted a decoy that was posing as a 14-year-old female. The decoy was deployed by one of the Wagoner County Sheriff's Office confidential informants. The CI stated that the suspect contacted the decoy on apps such as Snapchat and KiK. After speaking with the decoy for a short time, the conversation turned sexual. The suspect agreed to meet the decoy in person by driving from Oklahoma City where he was working a construction job. He agreed to meet the decoy in a neighborhood at night to avoid detection. When the suspect arrived in Wagoner County, he was located by Wagoner County Investigators and taken into custody without incident. The suspect was identified as Gregory D Smith of Warner Robins, GA. He was transported to the Wagoner County Detention Center and booked into same on the following charges: Facilitate Sexual Conduct with Minor and Lewd or Indecent Proposals / Acts to Child. His bond was set at $100,000 dollars. He is currently still in custody at the Wagoner County Detention Center. Wagoner County Sheriff Chris Elliott stated, “This operation demonstrates our commitment to protecting children and holding those who attempt to exploit them accountable. Our investigators worked quickly and carefully to identify the suspect and take him into custody before any further contact could occur. We will continue to work with our confidential informants and law enforcement partners to investigate and pursue individuals who target children online.”
